Hi everyone :-)
I am taking a break from pastels for a bit and tackling watercolors! I haven't done watercolors in a long time, and well, they are less messy than pastels, for sure! (hubby is complaining there is pastel dust everywhere... lol). So, I decided to do a watercolor painting a day, a series of them, this week it will be Gypsy Vanner horses... these are the first two. I hope you like them! Thanks for looking :-) (Arches 140 lb cold pressed watercolor paper and assorted watercolor paint. 9 x 12" each)

Love these. I think this is a neat breed and have been wanting to do one for a long time. Just haven't located one near me for pics yet. Great job on these!

Dee Dee, thanks! I have a lot of vanner owners as friends so they let me use their horses as models. I have recently been given permission by 3 fabulous equine photographers too, to use their photos as resource images! :-)

We have a bunch of these along with some youngies in a field where I take the dogs. They are all shaggy at the moment though. I got a few pics some weeks ago but it was so frigid, lol, I couldn't hang around that long, it was about -7c and standing about with a camera wasn't great. I'll be sure to try and get loads of pics in the summer when they look better too.

These a lovely little studies, well done.

These are lovely pieces. I do wish I could use water colour.

Out of curiosoty who where the equine photographers? I always think about contacting some but don't really know of any apart from Bob Langrish who charges alot for permission to use his images. Did they ask for a one of charge to use their images, a % of profit or were they kind enough to let you use them free?
