This sketch was done on Canson pastel paper..it is a pebble grey I believe. I used a white and red pencil primarily, but you'll see some blue, green, terra cotta, and others.
I enjoy changing anatomy, I just think it makes for more intersting pieces at times..fun to see what happens when you emphasize some shapes over others.

Working on a grey (or neutral toned) paper, allows you to have a middle value in place, although here, I defeated that value with white and some reds. You might find using a toned paper a lot of fun..in combination with charcoal, and a white conte pencil.

I think her masculin side almost as strong as her feminin side.

I love the colours in this drawing. The coloured paper gives the drawing a very pleasing effect.

Gerak - I was just having fun. I have seen the photos of female body-builders, and I found the contrasts interesting. Funny thing is, while I was drawing this..I really didn't think of the body-builder images, I was only trying to emphasize different areas of anatomy. I was shooting for realism in the anatomy..but the drawing looks a bit like a cartoon. Botero (sp?) has been very successful with his enlarged bodies (I mention his name because I have seen other examples of this kind of thing. I think women look more appealing (TONED-up rather than the EXTREMELY!! "buff" look as displayed by the competitive weight-lifters. My fascination with the beauty of women just generates different responses.

Mayet Ankh - I've seen some BEAUTIFUL life-drawings done on toned papers. I was amazed at how the drawings looked like old-master drawings. I understated colors other than white, red and black, but I've seen some virtuoso performances with just charcoal, red and white conte on toned paper.
I'll probably be working on a couple more of these drawings on grey paper today and tomorrow. btw, I cut a full sheet of Canson paper into about 4-5 sheets of varying sizes
The above drawing is only 8" X 12".

rhoward - It makes me feel good to read your comment. ("eye-candy" perhaps?) Have heard this tag before...seems appropriate for the many images I've loved to look at by other artists.
I have been interested in perhaps publishing a book (Have concidered one dealing with erotic art, sketches and drawing only for this one)- I've only made a couple inquiries to local publishers..but have not followed up on this idea in a while.
I am not currently marketing my drawings or sketches. (BUT!!! would be VERY INTERESTED in finding someone who might be interested in helping me do this!! LOL).
I'm not involved in any commercial projects.
