This is a painting of sunflowers I just completed. I hesitated posting it after viewing Carly's gorgeous sunflower picture of the past week, but here goes anyway. Please any suggestions and pointing me in the right direction will be appreciated. Thanks!

Lovely, the background really brings out the colours. How big is it?

But catjoe, you're not Carly and this is lovely! The colors are so intense and rich and some of the detailing (like the backside of the flower facing away from the viewer) is really outstanding!

Oh, I just love this picture and i think that a little more contrasting details in the petals and leaves would be the only thing that you would need.

Since this is so close up in view, I think more detail would be welcome. Jim

I like the bold colours and the negative spaces, I agree with the comments.
All it needs is the odd streak of reddish brown on the petals to show a variation and form,

Rod.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. The colors scanned with a little more intensity than the actual painting. The background has a little more of a purple hue with touches of permanent rose. I think the suggestion of using a little more brownish red is a good one, and putting in a little more variation something I can do. These were my sunflowers from last years gardens. I am painting several watercolors of flowers for my niece to choose from...she has just redone her room and I want to give her several to choose from. Oh yes, before I go, Yorky the size is 8 x 11, wanted to do the ones she chooses from in standard sizes so she will have no trouble choosing a mat and frame. Kathy
