MY COMMENTS:
I did this a few years ago and have had it filed away with a lot of other stuff I did before I stopped painting and focussed on 'work'.

Now I'm making time to do what I enjoy and I thought I get comments on this. I like the 'spookiness' of the left hand monk and the strength of the first.....

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Does this work or is it too 'simple'??

I really like the shading on the left figure and yes I would call it "spooky" or ominous. The other figure doesn't trigger much with me. The spooky monk reminds me more of Death and I would have guessed it was that if not for the title.

I don't think it's possible for art to be too simple.... unless the goal when it was started was photorealism.

yes, spooky AND ominous! I would have thought the figure on the right to be a nun, it seems a nuns habit...
