This is a detailed drawing that I did earlier this year. It is another Ancient Egyptian named Merymose, he was the Vizier to the Pharoah Amenhotep III during the eighteenth dynasty. (a little history lesson for you) http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif This is the lid of his sarcophagus. The drawing took approx. nine hours to complete.

Mayet Ankh - beautiful! I've always thought that some of the old black and white photos of the Egyptian treasures would make nice drawing material. In the good ones..there is usually a good range of lights and darks..and some nice detail.
You have a very good eye for those details.
You don't mention your reference..?
Very nice! Michael

Cindy, Thanks for the 'wow'.
Michael, Sorry I forgot to mention my reference - it was from a black and white photograph of the sarcophagus lid in a book on Ancient Egypt.

The detail is INCREDIBLE! I've been surfing around this forum quietly, but I just had to stop and tell you how beautifully done your work is. I love graphite drawings and this is a really good example of great drawing.
Keep it up. I look forward to more of your posts (for inspiration).

Nine hours? What patience you have! Love the slight variations in the lights and darks. Just enough to get all that detail.

WindDancer,
I am glad you like my drawings. I like to draw the Ancient Egyptians as I have been interested in the subject for a long time and would like nothing better than go on a trip to Egypt. Being there amongst the great statues and being able to sketch them would be the most wonderful thing. Maybe one day.
Sandi,
Thanks for the comment.
ReNae,
Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, nine hours is a long time. But it was done over about three days and I was determined to get it right. I had wanted to do this drawing for some time.
