OK, I tried to depart from my fishy rut last weekend and attempted to paint a vase of beautiful purple tulips. Alas, THAT one was a scraper. I love flowers, but am having a ton of trouble doing a decent painting of them. So I went back to my fishy subjects with "Bobbers" oil, 10"x8" and "Tom's Lures" oil, 8"x6"
C&C as always are welcome.

oh yeah!!!! Like these!! Fun fun fun....
I hauled my tackle box to school a couple days ago. Looked thru it and wasn't inspired though I thought I would be. Now I'm the one being schooled, because you've made art here!!!!!
ahh...never a dull moment in life!

These are both fine, Nancy. I'll bet winter is the only time you can keep those lures in one place long enough to paint them. Good job.

Well, Nancy, these are certainly success stories. Love that juicy brushwork as well as the placement of the objects.
I know what you mean about flowers from life...They are really hard. I've always had trouble with them. I decided this winter I would make them my focus and I've been painting them a lot. Practice helps!

Very good fishing tackle Nancy. Something is going on with your work. It is looking more subtle and painterly. I first noticed it in your value study of the old truck next to the old house. It may have been building for some time but it's for sure showing up now. Way to go!!!!! BillF

Larry - thanks, they are fun! It's interesting what inspires one person doesn't "work" for the next. I love the food-related paintings you've been doing of late, but when I look at food, it doesn't inspire me to paint it ;)
Thanks Jon!
Robert - yeah, Tom does a lot of fishing in the summer, so his lures get a lot of use then. I also have a (growing) collection of antique fishing tackle that I can delve into when Tom has his lures in use. Now I wish I'd kept my tackle from my "kid" days...I had a lot of fun lures that didn't necessarily catch anything, but they would be fun to paint!

Thanks Midge!
Jamie - Thanks! Wow, I can't belive how difficult flowers are to paint! Guess I'd better make a trip to the florist so I can practice more.
Thanks Bill! Practice and persistence is paying off, I guess :)
Thanks Katherine!
Ben - Thank you! These are about the only paintings I can get in during those busy work weeks. Thankfully they're fun too!
