Looks like the'old man and the sea' for me,( remember Hemingway?) the playfull use of colors is amazing. indeed' life is too short to paint in oil !!! happy waxing!

sorry to show my extreme ignorance but what is encaustic? Whatever it is I love it, it looks great. I would really like a close up look, fantastic!
Encaustic is beeswax mixed with pigment jannek. The pigment can be added to melted beeswax with dry powder or small amounts of oil paint. It is then applied to the surface using various methods. I use a brush and stylus here.

This is amazing! I fiewed this image at the "Encaustic International" site and missed it completely. This time I see the OLD MAN Absolutely Fantastic.
