Wow, Scott! This looks so good. I have not had a chance yet to look at the entire process, but I am getting my stuff together now and looking forward to getting to use the auction function. Looks like I will have another place to spend "Art" dollars too. I can't wait to sell and purchase works. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I've often thought about e-bay as a possible outlet for smaller paintings...but all the work involved in getting set up and then keeping track of the sales...can get to be mind boggling!
This is wonderful...to be able utilize a system that is already in place...and that I'm more accustomed to!
Scott...one word....spellchek!

WOW!!!
This looks so high-tech!! (read confusing) though, it is very exciting.
As a person who sells on ebay... just a few questions...
1. Will using the art-agent/ebay collective listing tools mean that I will pay a commission to both art-agent and ebay? The ebay commission is usually around 5% for the price range that we sell there. So, a commission to both would take out about 10% total to me?
2. Can you integrate a space for keywords? Maybe a brief bio, or a LARGE area for comments on the piece? The ebay system works on searches of keywords in the description, and this would be essential for sales there.
3. Would the piece for auction still be indexed at art-agent maybe with an "up for auction" icon or something?
I am excited to use this feature! In the past, I have had a pain getting organized and going back and forth and remembering where things are. This will be a BIG help!!
Thanks Scott.

Way to Go! This looks really promising Scott and I am going to start getting things together right away. Wow, I may even get to purchase things off of my wish list too!
Thanks again ... http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Carol

That is correct. Of course, the benefit is that you will be able to push your works through MULTIPLE venues - not just E-Bay. The time savings is well worth it (probably worth more).

Yes - the smARTviewer that is shown in the article is a prototype. We are adding a LOT more stuff to it.

Yes - this is already working. Basically, if a buyer comes to a fixed-price venue carrying your woks (such as Art-Agent.com), there is a link that will take them to various places to bid on the item. This is for originals, of course. Prints are assumed to be able to sustain simultaneous venue sales.
Cheers.

Thanks Scott.
Butm let me just be sure that I have this straight...
From my gallery manager (or other tool at artistnation) I can list items easily (three clicks or less http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) and have them go up for auction at a single venue (ebay, amazon, etc.) for originals, and multiple venues for prints!
Browsers at art-agent will be directed to my auctions, and you will only take 5%?????
You rock!!!

Yep - that about sums it up. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Also have a second round of enhancements already planned - such as the ability to have items automatically relisted if they don't sell, etc.
We're also working on the plans for a full-blown patron management tool.... ;-)
Cheers.

Sounds great Scott.
Just a question re the shipping and tracking tools. Will there be an option to enable /disable these. The reason I ask is that I sell approx.50% outside of Australia,& the majority of these are to UK or Europe. I find that UPS, Fed Ex etc. are well out of the game price wise, & I use good old Aussie post office. The last quote I received from the shipping agents mentioned, was 4 times what it cost by Australia Post.
My concern is that if the system automates the shipping for those of us outside the U.S., it may deter buyers.

Not to worry, Fred. In the end, the artist has total control over shipping. The calculator we've built only works for points of origins within the U.S. - international shipping calculation is simply too obfuscated to deal with right now.
However, when you sell an auction lot, you are provided the ability to plug in your own shipping amount.
Cheers.

Is it me?
Is it the system?
I cannot get to any of the pages to price my picures.
I uploaded them and now I am really confused.
can you publish the link so I know what page I am supposed to be at?
I may have set it up backwards, but I have done so little so far. All I want to do is use the template.
Help!

dj, you are getting web pages confused with your virtual galleries - take a look at the FAQ at ArtistNation.com (not the one on the home page, but the one for members, after you log in).
Basically, you go to the gallery manager and:
1) create an exhibit
2) upload images
3) rebuild thumbnails
4) add "pieces" to your exhibits...
Cheers.
