GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Leaving Pompeii
Year Created: 2005
Medium: Other
Surface: Board
Dimension: 16 X 20
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
In the year 79 A.D. Mt. Vesuvius erupted in Pompeii. This is my interpretation of boats leaving the harbour as the volcano erupts behind them.
This is painted entirely in encaustic (beeswax with oil pigment to colour)

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Any comment or critique is welcomed.

Hi Zap..... This is gorgeous! Even though that was such a horrendous time I could live with the beauty of this painting! I am so impressed with your vivid colors and depiction of pain, heat and turmoil..... it's heart wrenching. Good job! Donna

Hi Zap! Beautiful color! The longer one looks the more shades reveal themselves. I especially like the enterlacing of color in the water! Neat painting!

Nice change of pace! (for the viewer...me:)
I am not sure about the size of the two blue patches above the boats.
The one in the boats is so beautiful, the other two are distracting in SIZE.
perhaps use some more medium........whichever one you are useing,
and warm it up a bit with some scratches of another dominating colour..
