Lovely work Andee, the earrings are really great and will make a perfect set with yesterdays necklace, and the necklace is a nice classic style.

Good morning,

Andee those earrings are GREAT! (and in answer to yesterday, yes, I used
4mm rose bicones in the baby bracelet but I think rounds would have done better for a baby...oh well, I'm learning).

I'm getting ready to try out some right angle weave. Any suggestions on what makes up the best?

Hello everybody, I see you've been very busy while I was away, soooo many wonderful things in the 3 past weeks!
Andee, those earrings are beautiful, I love them, how big are they? How's about a little pic of someones ear so we can see, they really do look nice!

Good morning again.

I went and tried out the right angle weave I was told about last night at bead night and this is my first attempt. Not too excited with the color choice but the design is so quick and easy...only took 16 minutes start to finish for a 6 3/4" bracelet--can't beat that!

http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/18-Jan-2006/73562-blue_raw.jpg

I'm thinking it would look really beautiful in pearls or round cut crystals. I'll try those out in a bit and see what you think.

Hello! Beautiful earrings, Andee! Aunt--RAW is a fun stitch, isn't it? Here's a bracelet I've been working on for a couple of days--just finished it this morning! It's been a while since I've made one like this. Glass toggle and flowers made by me--

wonderful work today, i love the blue bracelet most, will get nicely with yeans i think ... and the overwhelming with those glass flowers , wow :-)

i was inspired by maori carving, and since i had a piece of nephrit jade (=greenstone) i thought i would like do a "quick" carving ... took me only 3 whole days, and in carving that is ultra-speedy ;-)

This will eventually be turned into a number of wearable items, but for now, here's the storyboard approach to S&T.

Started out with some component canes:

http://www.penguintrax.com/Images/showandtell/P1100167.JPG

And the resulting complexe cane. It is about 3″ on each side and about 1.5″ thick.

http://www.penguintrax.com/Images/showandtell/tesselation.jpg

I got the sucker reduced, finally, and it's HUGE. About 15" long.

Cut in half at the middle:

http://www.penguintrax.com/Images/showandtell/P1160175.JPG

And combined into a kalidesope cane (and one lonely bead):

Andee, those earrings are simply beautiful! I love them and I want them! I'm a little upset at the moment though, I had my ears pierced before Christmas and it turns out I'm allergic to nickle so I had to let them heal so I can get two holes put in at the same time in a few weeks!

Stonecutter, I'm totally loving that pendant! I wish I knew how to do that! I've got a similar carved bone one around here somewhere that my cousin bought me back from New Zealand, I love the curves and shapes of that style!

Barbara, I tried clay once. I failed misrably. You however, are totally inspiring! I may have to try once more! Whatcha gonna make with them? It would look stunning just cut across as a really simple pendant on one of Fran's (www.deepwoodart.com) dyed cords with a few silver ceramic spacers!

Anyway, heres mine for today! These are all mobile phone charms that I've made to match existing sets, they're being sent off to a gallery this week!

charlie....gorgeous! I too am a sucker for the orange one.....it's great!

Andee - I love your little squiggly dangles...
Julie - I actually like the blue color of the RAW bracelet - but I bet it would look good with pearls like you suggested too.
Jodie - I love your little flowers - garden bracelets are some of my favorites.
Carrie - have you ever seen extreme makeover home edition - there's a girl on there that wears pink a lot - I think your scarf would be her perfect accessory! Ah if only I was blonde.
Stonecutter - what an amazing skill to beable to turn stone into art.
Barbara - I can't wait to see what you do with your kalidescope art - the step by step photos are awesome!!!
Charlie - I love the orange one :)

If i get a chance I will try taking pics of my earrings again with a plain background - and from directly above.

thank you all for compliments on my carving, i am flatterd :-) ...

Julie, 16 minutes?! That's amazing - and I really like blue beads.

Jodie, really pretty bracelet, the flowers stand out well.

Carrie, that's a real Barbie scarf!

Stonecutter, your carving is incredible.

Barbara, that is amazing, so clear and defined. When I tried clay I got a sort of primary school plasticine effect!

Charlie - I want the green one!

Ah, I love busy S&Ts!

Thank you all for your nice comments!

Steph - sorry, no ear pic... :D The earrings, measured without the ear wires are about 3.7 cm long.

Julie - good job on your first RAW (why am I thinking photography when reading about RAW? :D ), I like the blue shimmer of the beads!

Jodie - a gorgeous piece, I love the little dabs of orange, and the flowers are really cheerful!

Carrie - nice scarf! Is it in three stripes, or are there more?

Stonecutter - great carving, I can see the Maori influence!

Barbara - stunning work! I already liked the "simple" canes, especially the orange and purple spirals, I think those would have made great beads as they were! But the kaleidoscope is incredible! Can't wait to see the final pieces!

Charlie - love the phone charms, all three of them!

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I have had the Primary beads for a long time and Julie, Yes, I think they are size 8 hex beads. The edging is done with size 10 and this thing just fell together color wise. The edging matches the center beads just perfectly. Now I just hope it fits her.

Andee, I really love the necklace today and the earring are just the cats "MEEOOW" for yesterdays necklace.

Jodie, I love your flower garden bracelet. Somewhere I have one thats half finished.

Carrie, Great scarf.....love the color its so soft & looks really cuddly.

Stonecutter, That is so awesome, I really like that. What stone do you like to work with the most? I have a large container of natural stone. I like to wirewrap too.

Barb, I love the colors and the design of you poly!! I can't wait to see the finished results.

Charlie, Those phone charms are just the cutest! I like the lavender one the best, but they are all very nice.

Julie, I think the color of the beads you put together in your RAW is gorgeous! I did some bracelets like that Swarzies & pearls, but my pattern is a little different that yours. When I have time I'll post one of mine & show you. Yes, Julie I beleive the size of those Hex's are 8's in my bracelet. I've had those beads for many, many years. The edging are beads that I found in my statsh and they are a perfect match. I am very pleased how it turned out.

CeCa, I get a few winks, now and then!!! LOL, beading is my way of unwinding.

Have a great evening everyone.

Well this takes me back! I have played with polymer clay forever... since before color! (Ok, since b4 I knew color existed). This makes me want to play with it again. The last time I made an extensive array of canes like this is when I was in this amazing bug swap.
I can't wait to see what you do with this! It is a totally awesome cane and I know how much time is vested in it! Good golly:eek:

The bug swap! LOL! I hosted that one... it was a HUGE Swap. They even asked me to do an article about it for the Polymer cafe magazine. It was all about challenging yourself to build these intricate canes and use them as bug wings. What a hoot. Here's a photo (not very good) of a part of my bug case..
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/19-Jan-2006/37806-bugs.jpg

I even put up tutorials on my site on how to build several types of cane... and how to put them together for a more complex cane. Great job you did Barbara!!

Andee ... I know it's been said... but those earring!
Jodie, your bracelet and lampwork are wonderful.
Carrie... LOLOL... you're just having TOO much fun with the yarn girlie! Think maybe you were a cat in another life?
Stonecutter... just... wow. I LOVED the hedgehog too... do you ever sell your work? I collect zuni fetishes and have always been fascinated by those sweet little carvings.
Charlie... I especially loved the purple one!
Gladys, your bracelets are lovely one & all... they look like they would feel really nice on the wrist too. Send me one and I'll let you know. :::snicker:::

well, i try, but people find my prices too high, although i price my time pretty low, but when a piece like hedgehog takes several hundreds hour, it cant be cheap...

difficult to say, agate, or more generally all quartzes are wonderful to work with. i have done now first time jade, i like how it feels now it is finished, but working that stone has some not-so-nice difficulties ..
