OK. I posted my two hour attempt under the Topic heading and truthfully I had already decided it was garbage and headed straight for file 13. After posting it though I kept playing with it and actually managed to get a decent pen and ink piece.
I had problems with my initial shadowing for the overhang on the right(as you look at the picture). After playing around I managed to turn the bad shadow into a believable Awning over the window. I have posted both images(Before and After) so you can compare them. Any comments would be appreciated.

all i see is more detail... i think you are way too hard on yourself... the original was very good as well
I agree, they're both good
I think they're charming, and I like that green too
good work :)

WHOA!
Both drawings are great-the second one is just more developed-I love pen and ink drawings and these are good ones...

excellent! Your subtle differences in hatching has brought out the soft light quality. A delicate drawing that looks superb!

Thanks for the comments guys. I don'tdo architecture normally because of a perspective prooblem but I am really quite pleased with the way this turned out. The encouragement helps too.

Your original line drawing is very good. The "finished" drawing is excellent.

nice work!
The shadows on this one where a challenge if you looked at it long enough, I had an entirely different idea of what the front of the building looked like (more angles) untill I started drawing it and realized it was flat! You did a nice job with it though, I like your windows much better than mine

Thanks Wingnut. I too thought it was built differently until I converted the reference image to greyscale and all of a sudden the building was flat fronted. PLease note I removed the waterspout because it was driving me crazy.
Thanks for all the warm comments from everyone. I think this is what I like most about Wet Canvas, everyone is so supportive.
