what exactly did you do?

Thanks, Debs. This was done in about an hour in Photoshop.
[Worked on the church image for quite a while before I realized that
this was what I really wanted to do.]

Bendani asks "What exactly did you do?"

Well, for me the original image was already very strong, needing
mostly to be rescued from its clutter and to be intensified.
Painting was done with the paintbrush and the clone tool, color clarified and intensified usinig levels and hue/saturation. Straight edges were maintained with selection tools.

Still need to simplify the upper part of the lighthouse, and to extend the foreground - maybe giving it some elevation.

Hope this answers your questions, and thanks for providing such a great
choice of images, Bendani.

Looks like an oil painting. Very well done.

What kind of paper do you print something like this out on? I've seen color-jet papers that are supposed to have a canvas texture. Would you use something like this?
