I haven't posted to WetCanvas in a coon's age, and I'm not sure if I've ever posted to this particular forum, so.....Hi, nice to meet you all! ;) I'm just starting with ACEOs and these are my second and third (no, sorry, nobody gets to see my first, lol). I have them up on ebay right now. I'd love to hear some constructive criticism and/or tips if anyone feels so inclined.
Thanks,
Cara

I would think that these ACEOs should sell like hotcakes on EBay!
I look forward to seeing more of your work here on the Mini Forum...WCs home for ACEO/ATCs! Nice work!

What medium are you using to prepare the watercolor paper to work with oils?

I use multiple thin layers of gesso, sanding each layer lightly with a fine grade of sandpaper before adding the next layer. It makes for a smooth finish and I haven't had any problems with the paper wanting to absorb.

they're beautiful! I particularly like the dreamy expression on the second one. I must have missed the listing. How did they do? Views seemed down over the holiday week.
I tried out acrylics for ACEOs (Steve, my husband, had a set). I am using Liquitex Heavy Body. They are very nice. They give you the tiniest bit longer drying time and the pigments are similar to the oils I was using. After trying them on ACEOs, I started painting with them on larger canvases too. I still paint with oils too but for ACEO's and some subjects, I like the acrylics.

Laura - I used to paint most everything with acrylics. I can't say that I ever made the conscious decision to switch to oils. I just started to use them more and more until one day I noticed that most of my acrylics had dried up and had to be thrown away. *shrugs* I liked Liquitex best though of the acrylic brands that I tried. I don't think they were the heavy-body kind but I'm not really sure about that to be honest. The auctions did much better than I expected, especially with me being pretty much unknown to the ACEO collecters out there.
Karin - Thanks for the compliment! That one is my favorite too. I put a lot more effort into her than the other one.
I have another fairy finished that I'll post as soon as she is dry enough to put on the scanner. I'm planning on finishing up another ACEO that is in the works tonight too. These are addictive! :D
