View Full Version : Open Studio gang?

I have heard them called sketch groups, open studios or life drawing but wherever we go to watch people sit for money, we should make a pact to post each model no matter HOW they turn out.
Ruth and Sandra are starting it, so I am adding my disaster from Wednesday afternoon.
I have done a few on Morilla Blocks. I am not even sure they make the stuff anymore.
It is a very rough... nor more like mottled ...texture watercolor paper I have from YEARS ago.
I did a number of pix on this when I got out of my Sally Strand class and since it is smaller and portable I hauled it out today.
I have never been a texture fan, but I am getting more and more abstract, at least in my line work.
I started reminding myself of Renoir at first and had to leave early on a short pose, but she is growning on me.

Acrylic slop under and nupastel on top. I tried to underpaint aqua on the face and forest green under the hair. I did good with the colors I wanted to get. I got her look and I like the vibrancy of line

Love the expression on her face and the lost lines of her hair. You seem to have captured her essence.

DJ...I could only hope my DISASTERS were this good!!!! Why do you feel that this is not good????? I would like to know. I think you have captured her look perfectly!! I love you lines....and your colors. I think you have made her expression of bordom...and a little impatience very well!!! Please tell us what you think is wrong with this picture.

I've replied to this pic in Portraits. I like your idea of posting work done from the model.
