Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Any Type
Medium: Pastels

Description:

After so many years of successful Pastel Retrospective Projects, we carry on the tradition with 2005 Pastel Retrospective!

This project is dedicated to all of your hard work throughout the year, so let's showcase your best! You may select one pastel painting that you painted in 2005 and post it in the "Final Images" of this Project. It may be soft pastel or oil pastel.

Please write a brief description of why you believe this is your best or favorite painting of 2005, and include whether you used soft or oil pastels, the size of the painting, and material used.

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here! (http://www.wetcanvas.com//Community/Projects/index.php?cmd=view_details&proj_id=981)

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

FOR THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH HOW TO COMMENT ON ALL THE PAINTINGS, HERE IS A TUTORIAL.

When you are in the gallery, you will see all the paintings at once. Once you comment on the first one, I'll bet you had a time going back to comment on the rest. So here ya go:

After commenting on the first one, close it out by clicking on the red "x" in the upper right corner.

This will take you back to the comment page.

Hit your green back button and it will take you back to the Gallery.

Repeat for each one you want to comment on.

I love the rural feel of this one, where is it?

It's Port Elgin, New Brunswick - a little Canadian town on a tidal estuary, only about 15 minutes from the border with Nova Scotia. My dad owns a summer place there, and I've been going there for summers for 30+ years now. It is definitely a rural area and not the least bit touristy. A peaceful place to relax, read, watch birds, and of course - PAINT! :D

This is such an interesting project!! All the entries are obviously the best of the best!!! Such a wonderful collection and I want to spend hours on here looking up close and commenting! And I will! But Christmas is coming so fast and I still have many projects at home to complete so my looking and commenting will have to wait till after Dec 25th!! But all I have seen so far are wonderful and such an inspiration with pastels!

Wow, this brings a lot of things home. My mom is in her 70's. Six years ago, I bought her a dog like this. (I can't spell it!) She named her Sherri's Areba Fancy, Reba for short, and I would have to say she is also a fourth daughter. Wherever Mom is, Reba is. This is beautifully painted, and very emotional for me.

If I may offer a suggestion it would be to darken the foreground water so that it isn't of the same value as the background. The grassesneed to be much darker too. Try and soften the area behind the duck to make it out of focus as it recedes from view. Hope this is of help.
