Just messing around/no reference, just painted in Painter. Frame is one I downloaded from someone into PSP9

Petty TX. My very first impression is that this would look terrific on ceramic tiles in a bathroom, or on a tabletop.

might be a silly question, but is painter better than photoshop? Is it expensive?

No it isn't better than PS just different it is a program that immulates natural media, PS is predominately an image manipulator and yes it may be considered expensive.

I think Painter is an excellent Paint program.......and you might find some good deals right now...check at Corel.com...and you can download a trial to see if you like it before you buy it....Also, If you have a teacher in the family..any aspect of education, you can really get a good deal using that...It is not very expensive then at all.

That's what I was thinking, Marge...stained glass! Sketch...if you're going to get and learn just ONE program, most of us would vote for Painter...

In addition to reading about Corel Painter IX and downloading the free 30 day trial version of Painter IX at....

Corel Painter IX Website (http://www.corel.com/painterix)

.... you might want to check this very good deal offered by Auto FX that includes the full version of Corel Painter IX, Painter IX Training CD, Mystical Lighting, and Mystical Lighting Training CD all for $199 U.S at:

Mystical Painter Bundle (http://www.autofx.com/eshop/10Options.asp?ProductCode=MPB)

Many artists use both Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter for what each does best, and often use both to complete a single painting or other image. They're both terrific programs.

My own program of choice is Corel Painter IX (and all previous versions back to Painter 4.0) but I also own and use Adobe Photoshop 7 (also own and have used a couple of previous versions).

I agree it looks like textured stained glass. You should do a series! Well done!
