Why don't you join us this month?

We are drawing and painting from the two beautiful references below.

Expand your skills, and see how other artists approach the same subject.

Receive feedback if you ask for it - otherwise, just post your work for all to enjoy.

Here is a peek at the two terrific photos we will be using this month!

Hi I'm new to Wet Canvas and I'm really interested in participating in this event on Dec. 5, 2005, but I have some questions...Is there a time that this event starts and needs to be finished? (I work on Mondays so I need to know if I need to be online at a certain time?) I hope I can join in, I really love the pictures that are being used and they have already struck me with ideas. Thank you!!! If I can't join in due to the work I do plan on checking in to see what everyone submits...there are wonderful artists in this community. It's exciting and inspiring. EM

Hello Em! Welcome to WetCanvas :).

You can start this whenever you get chance - there is no designated start or finish time. Most people try to finish up by the end of the month, but there is no deadline, so whenever you finish, we'd love to see it!

I'm so glad you like the photos! They were taken by two of our members and generously posted to the Reference Image Library here, for use by other members.

I'll look so forward to seeing your work! Be sure to post it in the link below so that everyone can see it. This thread is just to advertise the project.

Hope to see you around the forums!

I did a first draft (version) with watercolor - I had liked my drawing
more before I painted it - I'm going to give it another go... I
hope it was okay to post the painting here... I didn't know...

Hi Samantha! This is a beautiful painting! Watercolor seems like such a difficult medium to me, but not for you!

Could you post your painting again to the link below? That way all of the other artists participating will get to see your version of it. This thread is just to advertise the project.

Here is the link to post your painting to:

Hi Val,
Sounds like a great idea to me, being a new member. Is this something happening every month with different photographs, or once only? Does it kind of replace the critique centre, which I understand is discontinued?
I will definitely try to contribute, but have sofar not yet succeeded in uploading anything, but understand there are technical problems.

I'm new to WC, and would like to take a stab at this one to kick things off. :)

It seems that the reference area for the hi-res images is down until the 12th? Did anybody else pull the hi-res versions, or are they available anywhere else?

Thanks and looking forward to joining this community!

Hello Hans! This is a regular feature that is offered every month with different references to choose from. Thank you for your interest!

Hi TomatoMan :D! You are right about the images being down until the 12th while maintenance is being done. At the moment, the only images available are those posted here. If you right click and save them to the hard drive, you could open them in a photo program and enlarge them if desired. I realize that's not the same as the high resolution images, but it's the best we can do for now.

We are glad to have you both as members, and are delighted that you will be joining us in this project!
