Well - here is trial holiday card #1. I had no idea how hard it would be to get him to sit with a hat on his head (the cape was invented) anyway - I think this may be the most depressing look on a doggies face at Christmas EVER so I should probably try a different shot.....or come up with a really snappy something to write on the inside of the card.....hmmm - there may be a way to redeem it yet....

 I love it, he looks like he thinks you have gone mad! How long did he sit for you ?
You know I think he is a very fitting Xmas card, I am sure animals DO think we have gone mad at xmas with all the fussing and decorations and presents.
I think with a witty xmas comment it's a perfect card.

How about "This Xmas business had better be good!" or "Whoever said tis better to give than receive is a nitwit!"

LMAO, the more I look at it the more I smile! USE it!! Actually, a highlight to each eye might brighten him up a lot, but don't mess with the expression! Adorable!

Cori- that is absolutely perfect!!! That may well be your best painting yet- I love it! Poor Abner- remember the look of my welsh corgi with the halloween hat on? LOL.... and Henry is in deep sympathy.... Perhaps you can do a series... 'dogs who hate hats' LOL

OMG Cori! I have the biggest smile on my face and am laughing so hard at Abner! You did a great job and thanks for the laugh - I really needed it today! I think it makes a wonderful Christmas card and you could come up with so many different captions for him! LOL

Well - that saves me fussing about another painting then :) I will use it as my Christmas card and come up with the perfect caption for it today! I'll place my order tonight :) Thanks guys!

He didn't sit for long - in fact - Cam had to hold the hat on him and we had to put his muzzle on to keep him from biting him and the hat!

Poor Abner! This is very funny and cute--your friends will love the card!

All these dog-torture photos...the SPCA is gonna come after WC!

lol - gosh I hope not - and Abner got many treats when I finally got a good (kinda good) photo!!!

However - his sit/stay/be nice training needs to be stepped up a notch so next year he will sit nice for me....

Cori- two of our dogs just 'graduated' from doggie school- clicker training- ahem... they already knew how to sit- despite the certificate, they are still about the same- unless you have a piece of hot dog in one hand and a clicker in the other..... and if they get out they are not about to 'come' but will chase the sheep and goats.... well, at least they got a new toy at the end of doggie school... but the point is don't bet on Abner ever enjoying wearing a hat LOL... I love the look on his face though....

lol - but how will I get him to wear bells and antlers all day no Christmas day if he won't adjust to it :p

HarvestMoon

Bells and Antlers? You do that, and Abner will put the Humane Society on his Speed dial.... seriously, we used to have a phone with a huge 911 button on it- and a cat- Toby- who would SIT on it. It would dial without the reciever even being picked up. Lucky, at that time, the local sheriff was a friend of ours, because we would suddenly hear the dispatcher who knew our name and address asking if we needed help..... all because the cat preferred canned food no doubt... we got rid of that phone, not the cat LOL...

lol - I was kidding :) I actually have a blinking bowtie to put on his collar though - he should be fine with that! :) Just so long as it isn't a hat or a muzzle.

Cori- I am beginning to suspect you have some maternal hormones raging around there somewhere LOL....

lol - i don't know about raging....lol

how about for the inside of the card-
'Our bassadore will be so sad if you don't have a Merry Christmas!'

Jose - I'll tell him, but if Cam's electric train set he inherited from his uncle vanishes - I'm coming to portugal!

Thanks Kathy! I am looking forward to placing my order tonight for the cards (then maybe my VPON exchange buddies will get theirs before Christmas)

Cori - where do you get your cards printed? I've been printing mine myself but am looking for a good printer in Calgary.

Kathy- did you do that painting of the Girl with the Pearl Earring? I read the book- really wonderful- your painting looks exactly like the original-

yeah Cori- have not sent out Christmas cards in a couple of years - but where do you get them printed? need to keep up with my katrina relations...

You could just put the rather ironic saying on there:

"Tis the season to be JOLLY!" HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Hi Linda

Yes the Girl with the Pearl Earring is my painting - done in oil. Actually, this is a really crappy picture of the painting, the background is really washed out. I think it looks much better IRL.

Last year I got them done through Future Shop, Kathy - There is a sale on right now there, so I'll be going through them again. It's like $27 for 48 notecards - the quality is really nice (just ask anyone here who got my cards last year) and they are FAST!

Most photo printing places will do cards nowadays...online or in person. Kinkos does them too....

There - consider them ordered :) Now I can write my letter to go with them and I will be done!
