so I thought I'd sculpt a few in relief. The photos are ones that I took a few years ago while on vacation. The flat part in the middle ground is Death Valley, CA. I think I'll attempt only about 1/2 of it--the half on the left. Starting tomorrow morning (I hope).

There for a second I thought you sculpted this - lol
Look forward to seeing your progress Phyllis - good luck.
When I was a kid I flew a lot back and forth from Ok to CA - I saw the grand canyon from the air on several occasions, that was one of the best visuals I have every seen!

Well Phyl, this should be an interesting project for ya. You should get some good some fun carving on this one. If you were there in the summer it would melt your clay and dry in less than an hour. lol Nice photgraphs toooooo
Please post progress images:D
Best,
Kathy:D

Hi Phyllis
This looks like it will be a great project for you. I've never been there but it's quite beautiful. Your first piece showed that you have good relief skills and I think you'll have fun with this one. Maybe you could try carving some of the rock faces with regular wood carving tools (or a pen knife etc) to get some sharp edges. Don't forget to share progress pics :D
