Its really great to have the first comment from a great artist like you Pauls.

Hmmm! about door, time will tell .Right now I will concentrate on pot. That is going to be the centre of attraction.

Thanks

Great setup! A beautiful photo in its own right. I love the door--I hope you keep it, though it probably will compete for attention with the jug of daisies. I want that jug, lol.

Can't wait to see the rest!

This is coming along beautifully! I especially like the metallic sheen on the vase, and the texture we can see through your pastel strokes. You seem to work with a very delicate touch.

This is really interesting to watch you work. Its a lovely subject -and has a mood to it, and what you have done so far is really good. The metallic jug is very convincing, and I love the colours you have in the underpainting of the background, especially that yummy purply-red, - hope thats going to stay just a little?
I will keep coming back to see how its going. Thank you.

Great handling of the subject so far. Seeing the progression is helpful in watching how you approached this project. I particularly like the fact that unlike the photo, you brought the pot further left into the picture plane.

I realize you are not finished so this might not be the time to bring this up, however, you might think about working on some lost and found edges particularly on the left side of the pot where it meets the background. This will make it appear to advance forward more and create more depth.

All the Best,
Diane

Diane, can I ask how one loses an edge in a place like that? I understand losing edges when the background and the object are close in value, but when they differ markedly, how is that done? I see a value change along that left edge of the jug--would the lightest part of it get lifted a bit more to sort of merge with the background?

Sorry to break into your thread, Jay Paul. You've got a beautiful piece of work here!

Thank you for your wip. Always interesting to see how each artist works differently. I would be afraid of smearing that beautiful shine right off the vase if it were me!

My ESP is working because I couldn't get this painting out of my mind today so here I am, and you had asked me a question that I never saw. (I'm having a hard time getting email notifications.)

Do you have a photo in mind?
