My first self portrait. I painted it by directly looking into the mirror. I can see the small draw back of drawing this way. My eys are always looking in front, where as the face is looking to the side :-(.

As far as the likeness is concerned, it is not exactly accurate. I would say about 90%

Note: It did not fit my scanner and I had to scan it in 4 pieces. So you would see some marks where the edges don't meet correctly :-(

We aways make ourselves look sad as well, even Rembrandt. Funny isnt it.

I HAVE PAINTED MANY PORTRAITS OVER THE YEARS ,AND A LITTLE TRICK WHEN DOING A SELF PORTRAIT IS TO USE 2 MIRROWS,1 IN FRONT AND 1 IN BACK REFLECTING,ITS HARD TO KEEP THE SAME POSE BUT TRY IT NEXT TIME ,YOUR FIRST ATTEMPT WAS VERY GOOD ANYWAY.
