Has anyone tried the new sennelier 'la grande' pastels? Do they break apart and crumble like their regular pastels or are they more substantial? How about the new set of 'pure tones' - anyone see or use these yet - are they truely 'vivid colors'? I really like the bright color range of the senneliers but I stopped using because of the crumbling problem. thanks for all your help!

I have tried them- they do not seem to be nearly as crumbly as the regular ones- the bigger they are, the less they seem to crumble. I like them- yes, they are vivid, and large- a better size really than the huge jumbos- there was a thread on it awhile back I will look for- had a pic on a dead computer.... ok, found it- the first from left is the 'jumbo' then the 'grande'

Holy smolies! I don't know if I'd find much use for that really big one! I just don't paint that big...yet. How much more expensive are the "grandes"??
