This is my first effort of pointilism pen and ink. It was very difficult and took hours to do. I can see now all its faults ,I much prefer to outline and paint.LOL:cat:

I think that this is a very good piece of art! Pointillism does take a great deal of time, but you seem to have come through with flying colours.:)

Yes, this is a very good first pointilism piece. I think you have the idea of what patiences it takes for this type work. It is time consuming, but the results are well worth the time you spent.

What kind of pen(s) are you using? I find that using several different pens in a variety of size makes things go a bit faster, and gives a sense of depth without having to concentrate areas to get the shadows etc.... I work with a 00-5 mostly.

Nice one,

Seurat would be proud of you! :)

Have you ever done pointilism with your painting? I wonder if it is any quicker than ink?

Cheers, Chris

I'm sorry I dont know what the pen is other than a fine art line waterproof ink. Ive never used the paint to do the dots. I would be in toooo much of a hurry to take that sort of time. LOL
I am trying to fit all this in with studying partime and the painting is coming in a poor second at the moment.
Well thank you for the lovely comments. It is good to get some ideas on what other people think. I ask family and they just grunt or say yeah okay!!!

Don't let family dampen your enthusiasm. I had an aunt that used to say,"Nice little hobby, but do you really have the talent it takes?" This was her comment after I showed photo's taken at a one woman art show I had in San Francisco:( I told her if I had listened to her then I would never have picked up another brush after the age of 9. A few months later she asked if I would do a painting of their quarter horses. I told her that I didn't think my talent measured up to her expectations.......lol

Hi casey

well done, Like the way you did the highlights and shadows
keep on with the pens, I know it takes a while but the results
are worth it.

I too work in both ink (using pointillisam) and oils and find the transition between them interesting

catch ya
