I'm a newbie here in the pastel forum. I have been posting a few things in the drawing forum as I mostly work with graphite. But I wanted to try out some pastels, so this is my very first pastel painting. I have also done one of my dog which I will post in another posting. All comments welcome

A bit too much pink for my taste but I realize it needs it to separate the gown from the background. Very nice. Gives me a very peaceful feeling. You are doing good.

I love pink!!! But perhaps a hint of some other colors could be used as well....violets, maybe a little soft yellow accent, more cream colors....
It is such a precious picture!

Very precious picture http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

As for the pink, I don't think there's too much pink, just not enough variation of the pink shade and needing some cooler colors in the blanket to "pop" the baby out.

Some cooler and much darker pinks would work, as well as a touch of violet or ultramarine as Sajemak pointed out. Creams, same colors used in the baby, just darker in shade.

Lovely!

Erin,

I am sorry, but I continue to receive a broken icon in Explorer and Netscape.
