I thought these lumbering giants deserved a thread all to themselves. :D
Baby Ashanti (now almost 3 years old)
Up Close and Personal (to show all the lovely texture of the hide)

These Elephant shots are very nice. I particularly like the first one. The closeup of her face is terrific. They really are magnificent creatures. I like the photo of the baby too, but maybe would benefit from some tighter cropping.

Ashanti is my favorite. I think your photo completely captures her child-like spirit.

Terry and Rosemary many thanks for looking in and commenting.
Terry I did in fact do a tighter crop and put it in my upload folder but then remembered reading somewhere that one should show wild animals in their natural habitat as far as possible, thinking about it may be they were not talking of zoo's or safari parks. Anyway here's the cropped versiony.

I like the crop too, but I also liked the texture of that steel gate and its colors. What if you left a little of that in there? Then the baby elephant wouldn't be completely centered either.
My two very-amature cents :-)

I like the cropped version better. Looks a little more like it's natural habitat without the gate.
I do like the shot. It reminds me of a carefree little kid out to do some mischief.

These are wonderful shots Rob. I do love elephants. I like the last one of the baby. So playful....just like a little one.
