View Full Version : Paris Cafe
Hi All
This watercolor was done from a reference photo I found on the WC! Image library.
I wanted to paint using several different techniques and a mixed loose-detailed style. I hope it came out fine!
C&C always welcome!!

Hey, your painting looks really good..
I like all the people sitting down at the tables having their coffee..
That red roof is wonderful!!
I think if you varied the shape of your tree more it would make it more interesting.
I think I might have used French ultramarine blue and burnt sienna and mixed to almoast black, well a really dark grey and used that for the road..

Welcome to WC....
See that you ran into a problem that irks me a lot.....Why do street planners but a light post right in the middle of your painting?
A touch of splatter would help that pavement....
Nice and colourful however and I think you achieved what you were looking for....
Hi Rob, welcomed!! love the urban scenes, this one is good, reflects the Paris cofee atmosphere.
I think a bit less detail at the upper buiding would have concentrate the atention on the people, but just my opinion, hope to see much more street scenes!!!
Hi JJ, seedy and Alex,

Very crisp painting, inviting scenery, agree that less detail on the upper building would draw more attention to the people on the terrasse.
Looking forward to more !!
thank you all for your supporting comments, it will keep me motivated!!

i like the sun shining on the house and the people, could be sunday morning.. very peacefull. i can imagine they are eating croissants ... mhh... and drinking coffee..
i think the left corner, the little wall and the hedge, you could do there some more leaves or something, that seems a littel lost.
