Many people, when painting Hawaiian waters, only focus on the breaking waves, and though they are very picturesque it is not the whole story. In this painting I am trying to portray that even when living in paradise there are many emotions and stirrings of the water ...that the wind still blows, and there are still obstacles to take into consideration, but in all of this, the beauty of life and the experience of life prevails.
I am very open to C&C and infact welcome ones that help me learn or open my eyes to things I didn't see or never thought about.

If you are interested in seeing this painting as a WIP, it is on the Marine Forum under Breaking Waves WIP. I have also attached a few close ups to make it easier to see some of the details.

No crits from me Misty, this is just superb!

I love the thinking behind the painting, the transparency of the water, the crashing of the waves, the rocks, the warm tinge to the clouds.....................need I go on???

Super piece, thankyou for sharing it with us here!

Am I seeing hearts in the water? I like this one, especially the colors of the water beyond the break.

Anita, Margaret, Gail, Carolyn, Dave, Chuck, Leslie, Sue, you are all too kind. It warms my heart, and yes, Sue, you do see hearts, to know you enjoy this painting and the sentiments behind it.

This is really pretty. I like the composition very much.

Incidentally, my cousin had a dog called Ruff :D I think you mean "Rough" or is it really "Ruff"?

It sure looks like Hawaii and brings back very fond memories of a summer I spent there as a kid. Beautiful work Misty!
