Hi all-

This is the first acrylic painting I have done since the 70's. I have taken quite a few watercolor lessons but none in this medium.

It is 14 inches x 14 inches on stretched canvas.

Please critique and comment if you desire.

Very nice color; I like the close up perspective! The touches of blue work well.
(So I don't have any crit to offer!) Hoping to see more soon!

Very well done! Seems you haven't lost it, since the 70s!!! Love the way the flowers glow! Nice loose style.

Hope you enjoyed the medium and will do more! Thanks for sharing!

Very dramatic painting - I like the way your yellows radiate!

John this is beautiful and your experience with watercolours shines through.
I love the hint of blue.
They glow and look so fine they are almost see through...which leaves me feeling I should see the back flower shadows through the front flowers a tad.
Still, this doesn't take away from the fact that they are visually radiant and a real pleasure to look at.

Did you enjoy working with acrylics again?

The poppies are beautiful. You seem to have a way with paint and colour. The flowers glow wonderfully and the background flowers are nicely blurred.

Good stuff :D

You've achieved really good translucency to the flowers JP - well done.
I like the viewpoint - close up - and the perspective created by making the further flowers in duller tones ...... good:D

damar, Leslie Pz, Kerch, Lady Carol, 3chaway9, Charlie's Mum & Valri - thanks much for viewing and for your kind comments.

Valri- sorry but my better half has decided they belong on the wall in the kitchen.

Nitsa- I'm not sure about the shadows...I worked from a photo and don't see them in the picture. Yes, I do enjoy working with the acrylics after 7 or 8 years of nothing but watercolors.

Thanks again everyone.

The modern style and loose feel of this painting works well for you. The acrylics, though put away for a while, seem to have a very familiar feel for you. Nice painting.
