I just wanted to post one more soft pastel. I think i am getting the hang of the soft pastels. im interested in the strengths and weeknesses of this piece.

You've captured a wonderful likeness of this girl while maintaining a distinct stylistic interpretation. (In other words, I really like it).
Her hair is handled beautifully and the red colors of her outfit work so well with her lips and green eyes.

The eyes and the hair are handled very nicely. The eyes in particular are beautiful and really sparkle. Just be careful not to make the iris into an oval shape when the model is looking in the viewer's direction.
The skin looks a bit overblended from the photo. You can liven the skin by simply draging light touches of color back over the surface. In addition you can do some diffusing of the right side of the face to make it appear to be turning away.
This is a very interesting pose and very dramatic. If you are seeking alikeness, proper alignment of the features is important. If however, you are trying to achieve interest, it is just right.
The neck seems to be compressed which pushes up the right shoulder. Please check the proportions and position. Eyes are generally in the middle of the head, not at the top of the face (even though you are looking up at the model somewhat). When I learned this principle it immediately improved the structure of my portraits.
Great and interesting use of color.
Your rendering gets so much stronger with each piece you're doing! Keep up the good work.
