NIce piece, especially for having been away from pastel so long. I call these my "break in pieces", warming up with the medium on a few paintings before things really start clicking.

Compositionally, the only issue I see here is that of the steam. Because it flows to the left, my eye tends to wander outside the picture plane. If turned to the right, it would keep the viewer inside. I realize that it may that the steam had to go that way, just an observation.

Keep em' coming!

Thanks Noble and Diane for your comments, -----Dianne I agree about the smoke and maybe intend to tone it down if I decide to do a painting from it.

Sorry for the late post but I was all caught up in that toxicity thingy :P

Train is great! Then again, I love all your trains :P I do agree about the smoke. Just want to point out one thing: this IS a painting http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hope to see more pastels from you!

Nice painting, love the light, I too would like to see the smoke drift the other way and also catch the light in its billowing cloud,

Hey Hugh,
I can just imagine those station lights fighting to produce anything other than a yellow pool of light.
I like this and as Roan said, It is a painting

Don't really know TeAnne, haven't done enough pastels yet to form an opinion, but I did enjoy doing this one. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
