Amber here again. I did a painting tonight called "Spot On" featuring a Dalmatian. It's acrylic on Arches Hotpressed watercolor paper and measures 12 x 18 inches. Dalmatians proved to be a little harder than the looked for me because their spots give them such a 2D appearance that it was hard for me to find the form. I like to hear your feedback.

A good friend pointed out a troublesome spot (literally) lol. So it has been corrected. Here is the final version.

After some offered advice, I chose to darken the background colors a little which lightens up the shadow and I also darkened some of the shaded areas some and lightened where needed.

Very well done and in your usual "Amber" style! Love it! I do think they are a tricky breed - the only one I have painted looked like it got crossed with a Springer Spaniel! Yours looks great!

I've never tried painting a Dalmation, but they look challenging! You have done a great job on this one.

Jody, Barbara, & Steve thank you so much for commenting and saying such nice things. A dalmatian owner in the acrylics section told me that their spots tend to have white hairs interspersed and kind of have fuzzy outlines, so I have corrected my painting to reflect that. It's so nice when you have a breed's fancier to tell you some of the details of the breed that you just don't get from a photo. Anyway here is the revised version and I really appreciate your notes. Thanks so much.

Amber...just beautiful!!! You have done an amazing job on this!!! The only thing...and this could be just be, but the shadow draws my eye away from the beautiful work you have done on the dog. I would suggest toning down, making them smaller, or even to get rid of them.
I love this!!!!

Thank you so much Chris and Tat! I really appreciate your comments! Chris getting the approval from a Dal fancier like yourself means the world. Tat I appreciate your tip, but I think the shadow is fine for me, but I really want to thank you for letting me know your opinion.
