Every year in the Independency week out local Preparatory Militar School promotes an art competition, where artists are invited to draw/paint the school and its surroundings.

This year's competition was held today, and the day was realy nice to paint outdoors. Windy, but extremely hot weather with a wonderful blue sky...

As I documented all the process I thought I would share may day. So, be welcome to leave your comments and critiques... Iīll try to be concise, but I'm already warning you that I have several pics :)

First chalenge was to choose the location. After wandering around for some time I decided to take my seat near to this fountain, with the tower and main entrance located to the right...

Composition already decided, time to start the hard work...

And after struggling over and over again we now have the drawing to start playing with:

And we can lay in the sky without much harm:

After this all we have to do is to start "building" (sic :wink2: ) the painting:

Continue adding colour:

Time to keep things wet:

Thanks for inviting us along on this lovely day's painting excursion. I really enjoyed seeing your photos showing your painting progression, as well as the other artists and their works.

Your finished painting deserved the prize! It is really terrific. I like how it is architectural, but you didn't try to make it look like an architect's rendering. It is very artistic in its "look."

Congratulations and thanks. I wanted to give you a Merit point but they seem to be missing from WC today. Who knows what is happening there? You deserve one though. Think I'll rate your thread, I can still do that.

Thank you so much Becky, Sylvia, Lauren Brian and Carol for looking and commenting...

Sylvia, so kind of you... :) Thank you!

Brian - yes, I know what you mean... I had to move because the sun was burning my brain... Till today i'm feeling the tanning in my neck...

FrindCarol - a nice idea indeed, but believe it or not, this is the only one in a city of 1 million people... Not many oportunities for artists here...

Thank you very much Olika and Muru for the kind comments...

Muru, in fact the palm tree was there already, I just "artistically" moved it into the picture ;)
