View Full Version : Autumn blooms

This is a studio oil painting on canvas 24x30 done from an oil pastel sketch which I did plein-air in the park. It was full of late summer blossoms, so I couldn't miss the chance. Ususally I don't do many paintings from referecnces but currently have no other option. Too busy with the family stuff. I added a figure of my son hanging around me, doing nothing while I was finishing my drawing.

Nice Julia! You manage to stay very close to your style in the PA.
I like how you softened up the composition, especially in the foreground. Fits welll to your rendering of the trees and bushes IMO.
The heads of some of the flowers seem to be almost as big as the head of your son. where they that big?

Probabaly you are right about the size of flowers. They were certainly a bit smaller than my son's head. But they were really big and tall with large blooms. Ca't say exactly what kind of blooms they were. I will try to correct this mistake.
