Hi everybody! I never posted watercolor WIP, only finished work. I have no pateince usually to take pics in the process or wait for a responce, but I'll try this time. Full sheet (it's large form sure ;) ) Arches 140Lb. Left size is pretty much going to be same thing. I don't even know why I painted one half at a time. Since I took a pic, I washed brown background off, too bright and redish, it's going to be lighter and milder. Waiting for it to dry now. What do you think of my crazy stuff? :D Please C&C before i screw it up completely.;) Olga

This is looking really interesting.. Can't wait to see the finished painting. BTW, I love your style, way cool.

Anybody! help! :D say something to me. Good or bad. ;) Did I post in a right forum? :crying:Update:
reds in a background not as red, rather brown. Bottom layer shines through on a picture. Overall, darks are darker IRL. Does one bird, the bigger one, look weird? Big head, tiny legs, skiny neck? Looks like a bird from dinosaur time, or not? He looks ridicicouls I think...:D Should I fix him? Thanks. Please C&C

Your painting is looking very interesting for sure. Your style of painting one half of the picture at a time is most interesting and different. I am looking forward to seeing how you marry the two halfs of the work.
These birds do have skinny legs for their large bodies. I didn't see any that looked like the head was too large. Are you talking about the one with its wings spread? You could always make its head a little smaller since it is against the dark in the background if you think it is.
Looking forward to seeing the progression on this. It must be something to see IRL on such a large scale.

Great to see how you paint! I don't think it's crazy at all. Wild is what i would call it :D :D
I'm sure it's going to turn out great (looks excellent already). I'd like to see more red though.
Most of all it has your style, that's what i love about it

Thanks everybody! I hope to finish it today.
Jutta, should I add some reds here and there in the water? Is that what you mean?
I was drawing in colored pencil lately and every time I do too much of it, I need to creat a wild painting in watercolor for a change. :) I love colored pencil but it is rather tight medium and I don't have enough freedom to go wild.
Sylvia, I normally do not paint one half at a time, I just didn't know what I as going to do exactly, so I started in one corner first.
June! Me, fussing? Never! :) :) :)
Question!!! do I post finished work in the same forum or post it again in a gallery? I posted finished project as a separate thread in a colored penicl once and was reprimanded. I am not sure what is the right way?
Back to my jungle! Well, if I will spend another day on painting, my house is going to look like jungle too. :))

Interesting composition, Olga - so complicated!
By all means post the finished painting in this thread then if you wish you can post it in the Gallery or the thumbnail gallery too.

Maybe it's just my monitor but the upper right corner looks rather brown to me. this is where i would like to see a little bit of red as it is rather dark.
I really love the birds.
Now please go on i want to see this finished :D :D

Oh I see Jutta! There is actually supposed to be like a dense forest with few trees being highlighted by sun. I dont want it to be to bright or light. painting is already too busy, no focal point. Please check on me later! I value your advice a lot.
I looked your website up and wow what the great stuff!!! Quick not art related question: where are you in Germany? I have been in Germany few times and I have a friend Marion here in the US, she is German and came here last year. Just wonder. :) Olga

Hi Olga, i'm in Obertiefenbach (very little village) it's close to the Lorelei at the Rhine river. Somewhere between Koblenz and Wiesbaden.
I used to live near Frankfurt/M. but moved to the country 5 years ago.

I see. I am not familiar with that area. I've been in Aachen (sweet place) in the middle 90's and in Berlin. I was in Berlin when the wall was finally crushed and then again when Germany was united: 1989-1990. Back to jungle! My daughter demands her computer back :)

Looks like it is close to wraping up. It is too busy, I don't know if I can fix it at this point. Please give me any critique. I broke my rule here and used white on birds and highlights, I feel that i cheated on watercolor. Thanks!:D Olga

WOW, came together very nicely. Not too busy for my taste. Love the reflections!!!!

Привет, тёзка!
What a wonderful idea and I like the realisation of it, too! Great job! I really love the African-looking patterns in this painting, brings an instant local flavor!

Thank you everybody again! I painted another small one since, but have no camera right now. It is my daughter's camera and she isn't home. Can't wait to post it tomorrow!
Hi Olga! Thank you! Nice to meet you. Where are you now? San Diego? Vancouver?

Hi Olga... I love your composition!!! Yes, it's busy... but, I feel that's part of it's charm! It could be just a lovely painting of flamingos in dense foliage... or... what you have created here! Wonderful textures and patterns!!! Well done!!!

I love it too. No such word " too busy " :) and especially for this one . I use white all the time , if needed , hate masque . I'm impressed with your results from a very loose drawing ...........TerryC
