View Full Version : Watercolor.... WIP

I started this yesterday. Here are some scanned in photos of the sketch. I was getting a bit anal on the drawing and I'm afraid it followed through into my painting.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Aug-2005/63994-Horse__kids_1.jpg http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Aug-2005/63994-Horse_kids2.jpg

The painting is not done and part of it somehow got cropped off, I'll see if I can fix that when I post later. Picture was taken with my video camera so it's a little on the lame side sorry. Hope the close ups make up for it. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Aug-2005/63994-WIP_horse__kids_1.jpeg http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Aug-2005/63994-WIP_horse__kids_2.jpeg http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/27-Aug-2005/63994-WIP_horse__kids_3.jpeg

I still need to put in the sky and do some little adjustmenst. A couple of the kids faces just are not right. There is still masking fluid on the horses harness. I feel like everything looks very seperate and they are not meshing together the way I would like. Like they were all painted seperat and I cut and pasted them on, thats how it feels to me at this moment.

I appreciate any and all comments. Thank you!

P.S. Watercolor on 140# CP approx. 16"x10" ? I'll measure before my next post. Have to run now.

I measured it this morning and it is 9"x16". I thought I'd include the refrence photo, so that is below. I'm wondering if it looks like my barn is competing with the people for the focal point? Is the barn too dark? Is the roof line silly and distracting? Basically I want to hear opinions of what people think is or is not working in the picture, so that I can fix it before I move any further on this one. http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/28-Aug-2005/63994-grandma_on_horse.jpeg Thanks!
