I'm not an expert on pastels or art for that matter. Very Fall looking painting. Nice shadows beneath your trees. The one thing I first notice though is you need even more variation of your yellows, maybe even indicate some leaves with golden browns, oranges and red. I believe it would improve upon this one.

Tammy - Thanks for the response. Actually, I've been trying hard to make my work less about description in the conventional sense.

I really like this piece. Like your use of strong color and I like the composition. I think if you wanted to add anything at all to this, I would place something around the 5:30 area. Maybe a small colorful bush or rocks...something to help balance the painting and give a stronger focal area. Glad to see you post this pastel and hope you post lots more. You really have a good touch!

I'm a relatively new member, so I thought I'd post this image to show the kind of work I do in pastels. This was done last week in Vermont. I use a combination of Sennellier and Diane Townsend pastels.

Welcome to WetCanvas!
I like what you have done. Bright colors are my thing! I would put some blue in the lawn to counterbalance the strong orange yellow of the trees...Apart from that I like the impressionistic approach. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think it's very lovely....love the colors! I agree with Ills about the lower right bottom part....your eyes kind of search for something there....but otherwise, it's just simply great.
