Had this thought going round in my head for a few days..
not sure it quite works as it is ...
My thoughts are:
Am thinking of chopping off the base (didnt work out how I thought) and raising the grass level, and maybe drop some reds and yellows in to suggest some wild flowers...
what do you think? Am open to suggestions

Hey dominic, this is a wonderful prspective, really makes the monument... monumental!
The base is great and reallly grounds this. I would be carfeul in cropping that off, I think you have too many straight bits of grass. Maybe a few diagonal ones would help. And some flowers (poppies perhaps) would be a great idea and give this some more colour.
Good stuff, love the sky.

I agree with Chris's suggestion, and perhaps a little texture to break the whiteness of the cross might help too. Nice work, quite a powerful composition.

Also "what Chris said"!!! and I see angels floating in the sky - how appropriate!

yes, the base is my favorite part, and I think with some variation in the grass and color, as Chris has suggested, it will finish off nicely.

Ditto to what has been said ^^^. Before you do any cutting, why not try to add more to the grass, bend some of the grass, sprinkle wildflowers in it, etc. If you still don't like it, then you can crop it as you mentioned.
It is a very beautiful, simple composition that speaks volumes.

Ok, I have a cunning plan...
I think I am going to try painting adjustments on tracing paper laid on the picture, then I can try and (hopefully) not damage the original work but try out a few ideas...
Thanks for all your input so far, its not too late... if you have input I want to hear your 2c/1p thoughts...

Dom, those hills you added really make the cross pop out...terrific idea. Looking forward to seeing this completed.
