I decided to try my hand at an ACEO and did this little Chickadee there is a little glare from the clear coat sorry about that.
2.5" x 3.5" acrylic on arches coldpress paper. Actual image shown here is a little larger then the painting itself.

Val thanks for the compliment. It was a lot of fun to do I think I might do a few more just to see how they turn out. It only took a little bit of time about 2 hours so I was pleased in the end result.
Thanks for commenting.

beautiful, beautiful work! The feathers are so soft looking that I thought it was pastel until I read through.

Thank you all for your kind comments on this one. I did have a lot of fun doing this. Karin have you done any airbrushed ACEO's? I did a little airbrush on this but not a lot mostly just hairy stick.
Christie please tell your in-laws thank you it is always a compliment to have bird watchers enjoy a piece.

Sam this is just wonderful....how will you frame it up? With a wide liner or behind glass and a 4" or so mat?
Cheers, Dianna

Sam, Wow I showed a friend and they too thaought at first glance it was a cool photo... Look almost realisim without an Airbrush wow!!!!!!!!!!!... So far only backgrounds I have airbrushed however I think it would be so cool with or with out realism to do a series all with aitbrush. If for nothing else just to say I abed a little 2.5 x 3.5" kill piece of great art!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

Dianne,
I have not honestly thought about framing it I just thought I wanted to try it. I did not really know much about them so I am not sure how people normally frame these little guys. I have heard of people doing a series and framing that and I might try that I am not sure. Thanks for looking and commenting though.
Hey Karin maybe some of those feather paintings would be cool with transparents and such just an idea.

Sam very good idea I have some tiny down feathers that may just work perfect too. I am no where near the expert as Tim but I may give that a go.
