View Full Version : Starting in the Art Marlet
Carl J. Smith is a oil painter from my area, as far back as 1965 I can remember going to Sagebrush galleries and adoring his works, then they were 5x7" to 9"x12" for arounf $25 to $50 for a 24 X 36". Now Carl is in his 70's self taught artist,Sagebrush Galleries bought out a Estate sale now and that old 24 x 36 was in the sale, it is now back in the gallerie for $6,500. A recent work of Carls went for $17,000. a 30 x 40 of a snow scene with people going to church on Christmas Eve. So it have taken Carl 30 plus years to get to where he wanted to be. to me this is a Life Challenge and we all can some day achieve our goal of high dollar works if we only apply ourselves and dont get greedy too soon.
One moe question here please? How can I post my Pastel paintings here for all to see?
thanks! Dano

Dano,
your website does not run smoothly. It jerks and then it jumps to the bottom of the page, making it hard to see the work.
To learn how to post go to Critique Center and there are directions to read on how to do it.

Dano: I agree, there are lots of self taught artist who do wonderful work. Some seem just to be born with the talent and others just learn as they go and it does take them many years. Glad you shared that story with us.
Also... I know that this is your first attempt at building a web page and as many of us have learned, it takes awhile to get all the bugs out. Keep working with it when you feel good between your chemo treatments.
About your last question: Here is some really great information that will help you understand how to get your pastel paintings posted inside the message forums.
