Wow! What a gas!
Got a gift certificate to a local art store and picked up (among other things) some pastels. First time I've ever tried them.
What a hoot! They're like crayons on steroids!
Anyway, this is my first attempt. Got fascinated with the cools.

BTW, when I first brought them home, my wife grabbed them and proceeded to do this on the paper bag from the art shop!

Thanks, Sandi!

I just picked up a 12 color set by Expressionist. Only $5.00. I'm sure they're less than optimal but, for getting an idea of pastels, they're just fine.
Plan on doing a lot more experimenting.

Any tips/suggestions to try? I've liked the stuff you've been putting up.

Nick

A perfect description as they are so immediate. I enjoy pastels too. You may have troubles getting them back from your wife,

Pastels are just wonderful, aren't they. If you need any help, tips or hints, you can look at my website, or email me - I am a professional pastellist.
Enjoy. Jackie

Oooooooooooooo, Jackie Simmons!

I have been curious about your workshop videos I saw for sale on Amazon.co.uk. Now that I can see your work on your web site, I'm going to put them on my Christmas wish list! Your paintings are absolutely gorgeous -- I love the play of colors and light!

Do post more often, please!

Rod:
You are SO right! It's become a race to see who can get to the pastels first! Fortunately, I have my watercolors to fall back on.

Jackie:
Thanks for clueing me into your website. VERY nice work. I'll be studying your techniques as I get more into this.

Cheers!
