I noticed Ruth mentioned Artprice in her post about affiliates. I usually dump their spam when I see it, but this morning read through their latest.

Has anyone tried their "store" subscription, one year for $129 or $10.75 a month? It's not a true store in the eBay sense, just a collection of unlimited ads in a store format. I'm automatically skeptical of any online pay-to-list venue (especially when the site design is so amateurish), but I'm trying to be more open-minded. So, does anyone have any experience with them?

Hi Tami, I did run a store add when they first came out. ArtPrice is more geared toward dead artists, estates, and well.. all that stuff, so I don't know how well it would work for a contemporary artist. It does draw a very high income, serious art collector crowd.

The ArtPrice affiliate seems to generate good money because almost everybody has an artist they want to look up, even if it only an old painting that they found in a thrift store.

Let us know if you decide to open a store there.

Thanks, Ruth. Since they keep sending me offers, I wondered if they're trying to attract living artists. Today's offer was ten free classifieds for 30 days, so I might give that a try.

EDIT: Ha! It looks like I won't be listing anything after all. Only work by artist's listed in Artprice can be advertised.

Tami, if you are not listed in ART PRICE, do it today!!!! That is the source that almost all auction houses and appraisers use to determne the value of a work. Your work will appraise higher if you have your biography listed with them. It makes your artwork sourceable. It will also make you a listed art and increase your sales. I am listed there as is Conni Togel. Several months ago I posted on a thread how to become a listed artist. It is a very important career step.

I was just listed again in the 2005-2006 Who's Who In American Art.

Please, please, please get listed there. It is very easy.

Thanks for the info, Ruth! I didn't realize it was something I could do myself. I've looked all over for your thread, and I can't find it. (I wish they'd upgrade the search capabilities on WC.) Could you post the URL, or suggest some keywords?

It wasn't my thread and I can't remember the thread, but it was in either March or April, I think.

I searched for artprice and only 5 threads showed up. Unless I missed it, none seemed to discuss how to get listed.

Conni might be able to tell us- has anyone heard from them since their move?

Try going to this URL http://web.artprice.com/start.aspx?page=6, and contact ArtPrice to ask how to go about this. I did it 5 or 6 years ago. Conni did it just this Spring.

Don't give up. This is very important for your career.
