I painted this yesterday, and finished it this morning. I had fun doing it. Jan

Lovely head and face but perhaps more form in the body so that it receeds better in space would even further enhace this lovely work. The wings might also benefit from just a bit more detail. However this is only IMHO.

This is a nice piece but I also feel that the body is a little flat and I think it would take just a little work to give it some more form.

Without reference I can't say for sure, but I believe the body is a bit small for the size of the head/neck. Also wonder if the neck is quite long enough. I hate not having reference to look at. It could just be the perspective and I could be "all wet". Check your reference and if it is you could perhaps work on that when you add the detail to the wings.

Here are a few places to look. It may be more the neck than the size of the body. I can't find anything quite from the viewpoint you have. The wingspan is 7-8 feet so they are pretty large. But when they "fold up" they can get alot "smaller" I know. Hope this helps. Wish I had more time and I'd look for more.

I am trying to get these darn sites to stay separate. There are 3 of them here. Hope putting in the numbers helps. Well, for some reason they won't "behave" for me and I'm too computer illiterate to get them to separate. But type in mute swan on dogpile and you'll find lots and lots. :D

I'm leaving for a few days so won't be able to see this, but will look when I get back. I love your painting by the way. Guess I forgot to tell you that!

Thank you all for the useful information. But there is nothing I can do with this painting now. I sold it this morning. Client loved it and said it was the perfect color for the room she wanted it in. I was thrilled. Jan
