I am not familar with this particular Japanese artists either, but have always enjoyed Japanese art. I will have to do a bit of research on his work.

If you are interested I can refer you to a book by J.Hillier called HOKUSAI, paintings, drawings and woodcuts, published by Phaidon, I'm sure you will find it very interesting.

I have a lovely book called "The Grammar of Japanese Ornament" and there are some great faces in it. Wonderful expressions with the minimum of lines. You did well with yours. :)
