Nice Jan.....a feeling the bird is soaring above the sea maybe? above the trees flying high...definitely a feeling of space...great.

This is a nice painting, I especially love the way that you handled the tree. As for the bird though I think it can be taken a little further. There is no need to put in tons of detail but some of the wing area is hard to understand. I think I would try and add some form to the wings in the way of shadowing. It is hard to see what is happening with the top wing. It appears very flat I think if it is folded over as I am guessing it is there would be a better shadow telling us this in the referance.
Just a thought.

Thank you Sam, you are right about the wing. I had trouble with the top one.I worked and worked and then I started to ruin it. I needed to go about it differently. Jan
