Hello all,

Many were kind enough to comment on my first nervous posting of hand - I've acted on suggestions and think it has improved it, so THANK YOU!! :D

I'm moving on to something different now (maybe my foot!!!) :D but your help is much appreciated and here's the revised version.

Hi Alison
So glad you decided to post the updated version of the hand. Great improvements - I have to hand it to you!!! You said you might like to start on a foot now. Me, I am still looking for an interesting foot to photograph and then work on. Mine have been with me too long and they are too familiar. My son has just come back from London to live at home whilst he does a postgraduate teaching course - I might just capture his size 11's!!

Just looked at the 1st version of your drawing. I think you have definitely improved it. The added shading gives it more volume.

If I were to choose one thing on this drawing to improve it would be placement of the middle finger, it just does not look right to me but I cannot explain why. Does it somehow seem like it joins the palm (hidden by the pencil) too far from the ring finger?

One own feet are hard to get a good view at, I would suggest somebody else's!

Peter.

Thanks Di and Peter,

Yes, someone else mentioned about the middle finger Peter - think I had my hand at a really weird angle when I was trying to draw it and as for trying to keep still.....!

You're both right about feet, think I'll be snapping the family while their guard is down! :D

Hi Alison. Yes! Much improvement in this one...the middle finger needs just a tweak! Excellent work! Sometimes there are good references of women's feet in woment's magazines...or how about Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue..gotta be feet in there, and bodies as well that might be of the model-y sort to draw. Yes, It's very difficult to draw one's own feet as Peter and Di said...I've tried it as well...didn't happen!! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Pam - I appreciate it! :D

Good tip about the women's magazines too - especially at this time of year, I'm sure I'll find some pics of people lying on beaches with their feet on display! Will have a go! I'm sure they'll have much better feet than me too, with any flaws airbrushed out - maybe I'll put some in! :D
