It's been a while since I've posted any work (and since I've had any time to paint, for that matter!), but things have eased up and I have much more time to paint now.

This is a quick plein air painting I did, 11"x14" acrylic on canvas. Not one of my best works, but I'm fairly happy with it for what it is. I might touch it up a bit when I get a chance.

I also have many paintings in progress...will post when (if) I finish them.

Hey Dave: plein air is hard. I know I have come very close to throwing a massive wobbly :D in the process.

The field looks good but the furrow lines are the same thickness (?) and therefore there is no real sense of depth. There is no focal point either. If it was mine I would have positioned myself so that the furrow lines merged in the distance rather than being parallel across the painting. Good try for not having painted for such a long time.

the tree and sky work well but the field seems awkward .. that said, plein air is one touch battle that is still beating the crap out of me. Congratulations for being out there; the rest will come with time.

Many thanks for your comments, Carol and Wayne. I see what you mean about the lack of depth-will keep in mind when touching it up! I'll be working on more in-studio paintings for a while; just wanted to give plein air a try.

Thanks very much, Jan, Barbara, and Caroline. I enjoyed the experience of plein air painting...I'll probably try it again sometime.
