View Full Version : Canon Powershot G2

I'm considering buying the Canon Powershot G2 Digital camera. Can anyone out there with personal experience on this particular model give me any input?
I was considering the Olympus C3040Z but a few reviewers complained that the LDC screen was unreadable in bright sunlight. I live in the tropics and we have bright sunshine all year long. Thanks.

I am a complete beginner with digital cameras, so I was hoping someone could help me find a good, cheap one. I really don't know what to look for. I would like to take pictures to use as references for painting (Painter 5), and it would be nice to be able to send pictures via email, also. Of course, price is a BIG problem, I just can't justify 2 or 300 dollars. Am I out of luck?
Thanks so much, I hope I've posted this in the right place.

I have a G1 which I dont intend upgrading until it dies of old age.
From what I have seen over the past few months, the G2 is much better.

I was impressed by your photographs. Checked the internet for prices on the G2 last month. Lowest $799 US. Locally was quoted $700 by a store that usually expects to bargin. Yesterday in passing at Kmart, saw a notice for a Canon Powershot at $500!
Still researching.... and saving

I have an Olympus C-3040Z. I've never had a problem seeing the LCD screen. I researched all the camera's available at the time (June 2001). The Olympus was my choice. I love the lens most - great optics. I haven't been dissapointed.
