Does anyone use yahoo auctions for selling art or ACEO's. I am tired of ebay and thought about giving yahoo a try. Any Thoughts

There is no categroy for ACEOs on Yahoo. About two weeks ago I had six works up for sale. I did not sell any of them, but they sure got a lot of views and I did sell a painting from my website as a result.

It will take time for Yahoo to take off. I recommend it as a site where you need to post at least 5-10 items at a time and be prepared to use it for advertising for your website. I did email all of my eBay buyers to let them know where they could find my work and why I was looking for alternatives to eBay. I received a good number of emails supporting my ideas and assurances that they would keep an eye out on Yahoo for my work.

In the interim we have had more health issues to deal with as far as elderly family members so I have not been able to list as aggressively as I would like to.

Sorry I can't give you more detailed info on Yahoo.

I have 3 things listed at the moment- plan on listing more and use listings as advertising.

I didn't get many hits at all on Yahoo. I plan on listing more there but I moved all my non-eBay listings over to ABU for this round. I have a bid there (so I'm on Hot Items) and an FP. After those finish, I will resume rotating Yahoo in.

For ACEO's, that new site is scheduled to open next week. I am saving some for that.

My advice is to beware of Yahoo. It is filled with sweat shop "art". Also, do note that even on a search for your auctions, competitor ads (even those advertising sweat shop art) will appear. Your money is better placed elsewhere.

Hi Chris,

Yahoo Auctions are free now. No listing fees or FVFs. I've never sold anything there but I can't see much risk in listing, other than potentially wasted time.

Sweatshop art is everywhere except ABU at the moment.

There wasn't any on www.blujay.com the last time I looked but there didn't seem to be much happening there. Unlike ABU, they would accept it. It's just that the sweatshops hadn't found it yet.

True, it free and yes, sweat shop art is ubiquitous, but the competitor ads are what have me turned off about them. That is a Yahoo thing.

O.K.
;)
Thanks for this info about competitor ads.

I will not give yahoo a try because of this.
;)
It aint worth the time and energy, imo, to put into listing on the yahoo auction site due to the sweatshop art and the competitor ads.

ABU runs competitor ads too. Right now, I am looking at my gallery page and there is an ad for Fine Art Prints from a place called gallerystreet and another for "framed art 50% off" from coveryourwalls.com

Has anyone seen the purses and shower curtains on gallerystreet.com?

These free sites have to support themselves somehow and I don't blame them--I just like to see them all held to the same standard. I wouldn't quit listing on one and keep listing on another that both do the same thing.
