This will be oils on 40 x 32 inch canvas, so not quite life size.

I well and truly smudged the charcoal with this one working on the easel instead of a more horizontal board. There's a vast amount of background for it to be plain old black and brown and I'm thinking about it.

Hi Mikey......is this the geisha girl?....I see the shoulders are turned at more of an angle which suits the pose.....I like the seated pose and it will be interesting to see what you do with the background.....

This is her Kim, although I don't want her to have a thingy and whatsit on. I'd like her to be soft and less formal. I'll do some research on backgrounds.

Very elegant and graceful. I love the pose. Thanks for pointing us over here, as I will enjoy watching you paint this, Mikey.

Thanks Eileen. I'd like this one to be good enough for a show.

Thanks Gilberte, although I admit my impatience has got the better of me and I'm doing charcoal sketches of another girl.

Just to let you know I haven't forgotten this one. Her right eye needs some adjustment and that's easier to see on the screen.

Thanks Kim, I'm thinking I should keep that background light. I'm a one for lost and found edges, but might have to forget that this time.

I've got to make some colour adjustment to her mouth anf her left cheek in the shadow, plus place some highlight onto the lower lip. Then I'll adjust the bridge of her nose ever so slightly.

Please do offer crits at this time when I can easily make any changes.

Oh dear me, I've just noticed the mouth is very wrong. I must have got carried away with the details. :o

Hi Gilberte, yes, and I've got to be happy I noticed it. I have fixed it now - I hope.

Thanks Kim. I've got to get some kind of pattern into that dess and am not too sure about that right now. I'm working on Hui's portrait at 24 x 28 inches, close-up.

Hi Mikey...I like the adjustments you have made....the shadow on (viewers) left cheek looks a little cool on my monitor...the features look great...

Hi Kim, it could be that although I think the shadows under and beside her nose are too purple. I'm still working on Hui's portrait.

I've still got some work to do on her nose and that cheek on our left. At the moment I'm more concerned about getting the folds in the garment right and rather than use the normal tonal lost and found edges I'll more likely flow the colours.

Hi Mikey.....the form is looking very good.....great foot......and I like the format of your background.....tried to get this effect with the mural background but alas there was only so much we could do with exterior....faaast drying....acrylics.....

Hello : Im finding that dark piece behind quite distracting from the lovely figure, like its something growing out of her back. Maybe its that sharp vertical edge needs softening somehow. I would make the dark shape wider so it doesnt "stick into her" or get rid of it.

Hi Kathi, the dark piece of backround was part of my original intention for something much darker. As it is I'm letting things change naturally as things develop.
