I'm off on another 'theme' now, and they seem well received on the auction sites.
They are such fun to do. Just using pen & wash (watercolor) for them. I used to draw houses for Real Estate agents (did over 9,000) so retain my interest in houses though there were times I swore I'd never draw another house. But I love them.

Jillian

I love sketching old houses and buildings. I love this style. These should make popular ATCs, but I cannot imagine doing 9,000 of them!!!!!

Thanks Bertoni. Yeah, have to admit I do. Most I ever did was 30 in a week. At $45 each in 1988, 'twas not bad money at all! :D
They weren't like this though.
Stay tuned for more. I have 3 or 4 others done, might post them later.

Jillian

Well, I did them from 1981 until about 1997. The most I did was 30 in a week, but sometimes also months went by without doing one.
I did ink sketches, no watercolor. This is more of a challenge as you have to get shapes and shades using only one color - black.
They also were much larger - about 6x, and very detailed ink-wise.
Glad you like this one. I'll post more later if I get time.
Regards,
Jillian

Jillian, I love your houses, but then again, I am biased, as I love houses. But I honestly think these are the best I've seen of your art to date.

Yes, all but one has bids. Thank you so much, I'm glad you like them.
I did it as a job, I had to go out to the house, do a quick sketch and measure up the floor plan, then go home, draw it up, and deliver it often the next day.
The 9,000 were done over many years - 1981 until probably 1997. The most I ever did in one week was 30. In that time sometimes I took a break of a year or so. I tried getting back into it in the 2000s but it just wasn't the same.
I have many interesting stories from that time. :)

Jillian

Hi Your houses are just beautiful. I love how you can get so much detail with the small ACEO size.

Thank you. Actually these are almost like doing a mural to me. Much bigger than used to for small works.
But then, I do murals, too. :)

Hi Gillian,

These are so very pretty, I love them all! You know, you were one of the first miniature artists I found on the www along with Wes & Rachel Seigrist, so I have to thank you for introducing me to the world of miniature art. Perhaps we should all paint a house and swap them seeing as styles vary so much from country to country! Lol... Beautiful work.

Thank you so much Gail. :)
I'm glad you're enjoying the world of miniatures -expect to hear more from me in the future re this. :)
The houses are from Australia & USA - I might also do some from Germany & the UK. Art trading cards are for swapping, tho mostly I sell them (ACEOs).
Thank you.

Thanks Bertoni. This style comes 'easy' to me.
It's funny, as it's a style I have LONG admired but thought it too difficult, especially since I do such 'tight' work, but these just 'flow' without too much effort at all. Which is good as I love doing them.
Thanks again.

Jillian
